Day 107 - Paneling & More! | School Bus Conversion

The first thing I did today was finish the wheel well covers in the master bedroom.

Next we put hinges on the closet doors and installed them.

Next we finally paneled the outside wall of the bathroom.

We did some figuring on the shower and decided to go with a hand held. It will be mounted low. Mounting it high was pointless because the ceiling is low. The shower is not permanently mounted yet. After the paneling goes up we will remount it.

Day 106 - Custom Door & Trim | School Bus Conversion

Today I built the second door frame for the 2nd master closet.

Here is the door frame:

Here it is with the door:

I still have to attach hinges and knobs to both doors.

Next I installed a trim board at the edge of the bed. This will also help to keep the foam in place.

You can see the trim board here butting into the wall. I have also set the wood floor in place over where the wheel well is:

Day 105 - Wood Floor and More! | School Bus Conversion

The bus is really coming along. It is easy now to get an idea of how the entire project will turn out.

Today I starting by putting up some trim and corner bead.

Next I build boxes over the wheel wells. This will be covered with wood floor, paneled and trimmed out.

Then I installed the wood floor in the master bed room and bunk room.

This is facing the rear of the bus:

This is facing the front:

After that I built a door frame from the closet. The door is just sitting in place for now:

Probably will not have any more posts till next week but we shall see.

Day 103 - Water Tanks | School Bus Conversion

Today I finished (conquered may be a better word) the installation of the water tanks.

It was not an easy task and took the majority of the day. It took some major planning to get both of those tanks in next to each other. There is only a 3" gap between them.

This is where the water goes from the tank to the pump.

The tanks are tucked a good distance under the bed. It still leaves a good amount of storage space.

This is running water from the 2 - 46 gallon water tanks powered by the 12V FlowJet water pump.

Day 102 - More!!! | School Bus Conversion

Today I started by installing a vent under the fridge. That way I can access all the water lines that are in this compartment.

I used an outdoor fridge vent for this and it works great.

Here is it with the opening door attached.

I also installed the fill door and plumbing.

I hope to have the tanks installed tomorrow. I have tested the direct water line and it works!!!

Day 101 - Water Tanks | School Bus Conversion

I found a great spot for the water tanks. They will go in the compartment under the master bed. Today I basically prepped the area for installation.

Tomorrow, I hope to have it all hooked up!!!

Day 100 - Fridge & Shower | School Bus Conversion

Yesterday we work a little bit on getting this ready for the fridge. Today we installed it!

All power and gas lines have been hooked up

After the fridge was installed I worked on installing the shower valve

Water tanks are here! It's almost time for them to get installed.

Day 99 - Outdoor Shower | School Bus Conversion

Today I installed the outdoor shower.

I wanted the out door shower to center on the window. So this is what it looks like inside.

This sits in the cabinet behind the rear dinette bench.

Day 98 - More Plumbing | School Bus Conversion

Today was a slow but productive day. Running plumbing with almost no space is not easy. You have to really plan out each piece before putting on the glue.

This is the stub outs I put in yesterday coming up into the shower wall.

I put elbows aiming lift on these two pipes. (from pic above).

I then ran the pipe through the stud to the left (seen in pic above) and immediately where it comes out of the stud on the other side I put a T in each pipe so I can bring a water line up to the shower.

Next, I focused on getting the pipe in the next wall. I am not even sure how I got these in the wall. The wall to the left is the shower wall.

You can see in the left side of the pic the pipe in the shower wall not connects to the pipe in the other wall.

In the left of this pic you can see the hot and cold T for the shower.

This is now on the drivers side of the bus with the elbows aiming towards the front.

Here is the pipe in place on the drivers side wall.

I was actually able to feed the pipe into the wall that was already covered up and come in right behind the sink.

It would take to long to discribe how I was able to do this but it worked out really well.

More soon!

Day 97 - Plumbing | School Bus Conversion

Today I did more work on the plumbing. I had to go to the local hardware store and pick up the supplies that I needed. I took the water pump and accumulator with me so I could match up what I needed.

This is where the supply lines come into the compartment. One is tank water the other is for city hook up.

The pump manual recommended flexible hose for running to and from the pump. It should help reduce noise from the pump.

Next, I plumbed in the water heater

The T stub outs at the bottom left of the picture will provide a water source for the out door shower that I still have to install.

To get the plumbing to the other side of the bus I had to drill two holes down through the plywood and metal to the underside of the bus.

The I had to get under the bus and run the lines over to the other side.

This is the only place where water lines will run under the bus. It is a distance of about 3 feet. I hope this will limit the chances of the water lines freezing in cold weather.

This of course is a huge school bus with lots of room underneath. Somehow I picked the only spot under the bus to run the water lines that has almost no room to maneuver around in. In the end I got it.

This is where the lines come up on the other side:

Day 96 - Water Lines | School Bus Conversion

Today I worked on running the water lines. I was going to run them under the bus but after some planning I figured out a way to run them in the bus. That way in cold climates I don't have to worry about them freezing.

More pics tomorrow!

Day 95 - Miscellaneous | School Bus Conversion

Today I had to disconnect some of the gas lines and put in On/Off valves so that I will be able to separately turn on & off each gas fed unit.

Here is the valve for the stove:

This is where the line connects into the stove:

Here is the valve on the hotwater heater line:

I also installed the tank monitor panel / Pump switch:

The foam bedding is now all in the bus:
