The first thing we did was install the Hardy Backer on the floor in the bathroom.
I decided to go ahead and get started on the control panel / dash area. We have been putting it off and dreading it a little but we have a few good ideas that should make it turn out really nice. Only time will tell.
Today I started with the control panel that sits on the left side of the drivers seat. This panel houses all the control switches for the bus. Here is a pic of it before I removed it a while back.
This is how this location looked after its removal (What a mess):
Here it is removed:
I considered just painting it and actually did but decided to go ahead and panel it. Here is the process:
I put some glue on the metal just to prevent vibration:
I then screwed the paneling in place:
Using the old control panel as a guide I cut out new switch openings in the new panel:
There is still more to do before I can officially install it but this is how it should look:
I will also be paneling the wall and I still need to stain and varnish the panel.
More soon!
