Video: Family Travel on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad

Julie and I along with Linden spent the day riding the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in Bryson City, North Carolina, and this video walks through the full experience—from the scenic views to the food served onboard. If you’re planning a family trip to the Smoky Mountains or wondering whether the railway is worth it, this gives you a clear look at what to expect. We cover the ride itself, how kid‑friendly it is, and an honest review of the food options available during the journey.

Along the way, we share tips for families, highlight the best parts of the route, and talk through whether the upgraded seating and meal options are worth the cost. If you’re looking for things to do in the Smoky Mountains with kids, this is one of the most unique experiences in the area.

The upgraded NIDEC fan delivers 300Pa of power, ensuring hot water supply even in winds up to 9 on the Beaufort scale.
